The IRF provides an arena for exchanging ideas and opinions about methods and principles concerning efficient supervision of safety and the working environment. Members swap facts on their supervision activities and inform each another about relevant technical issues, regulatory developments, and so forth.

Within the scope and limitations created by the national frameworks for member activities, this collaboration will help to promote a common understanding of such issues as:

  • The role of the regulatory authorities
  • Use of policy instruments in supervision
  • Supervision methods
  • Expertise development
  • The relationship between regulators and the industry.
